Obituary for Marjorie R. Engel

Marjorie R. Engel passed away peacefully on October 25, 2017 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul M. Engel; and her parents, Walter and Gladys Reed.

She is survived by her children, Kurt (Lorraine) Engel of Rochester and Karen (John Kissane) of Syracuse; six grandchildren, Matt (Kelly), Mark (Katie), Ellen (Mike), Eamon, Conor and Kelsey; and six great-grandchildren, Jonny, Whitney, Aleah, Riley, Livvy and Lucy. She is also survived by life-long pal, Eleanor Peters.

Margie was born in New York City in 1924. She married Paul Engel in 1948 in Syracuse and moved with her family to many cities in the US during the 1960s, eventually relocating to Syracuse.

Upon their retirement in the 1980’s, they spent equal amounts of their year in Florida and Syracuse, eventually re-settling in Syracuse in the 1990s.

Margie was a member of DeWitt Community Church and Cavalry Club. She was an avid golfer and bridge player.

Her love for family, life lessons passed on to her family, sense of humor and generosity to her family and friends will be forever remembered. The family wishes to thank The Nottingham and Loretto Nursing Home, especially Julie Li, Merisha, Emilio and Billy (aka George) for their outstanding care.

Services will be held privately at Oakwood Cemetery.
