Sweet Memories
There are certainly more than one story/memory when it comes to Warren Petty! As I have spent the last couple of days looking back with fondness over the many roads Warren and I have been down together....here are some of my compiled memories of which I am forever thankful:
On a few occasions many thanks to Erika and my husband - we were able to take Warren on a few joy rides in his '73 Delta 88 convertible! The joy it brought him was immeasurable . He would pick out the exact ball cap he wanted to wear for the ride and away we would go through the back roads of Manlius! On one such occasion we had to stop for gas, of course my husband filled it and paid for it under much protest from Warren, because that's who Warren is!
Oh yes and let's not forget the times Warren would attempt to slip an extra $20-$40 into the hands of one of the caregivers because he always appreciated so much, every little thing that was done for him. That's who Warren is!
Warren's tenderness and love for animals, especially cats! Showed his wonderful sweet, kind, caring and patient character.
I will forever remember his favorites and think of him each time I prepare them: Shrimp, scallops, poached eggs over hash, broiled fish, hamburger with a slice of onion, fruit, tomatoes and any pie Susan made! With a slice of sharp cheese! And never forget: mustard pickle! I sure wish we could have found that recipe for Sauerbrei!
Warren loved the outdoors, his trees, plants, flowers and most of all getting the patio set up every summer with geraniums and tomato plants! He made it a point to venture out daily to keep a watchful eye on the plants whenever possible. He would also give me several lessons in biology whether I asked or not! This is who Warren is!
Warren never asked for much, he was very simple and oh so easy to please. I'm so thankful we were able to make it to Green Lakes Park patio for lunch. The day was perfect! The sun was shining, temp was in the mid 70's and it was a good day for Bea! It did take a while, but Warren got to sit in the outdoors that he loved so much and gaze out over the lake and have his hot dog! And of course, we had another history lesson!
I could go on and on because there are endless stories and memories to tell. I will spend my days reliving them over and over with fondness, forever remembering this special man who left an imprint on my heart that will be with me always. I love you Warren Petty!
