Obituary for Robert K. Knapp

Robert K. Knapp, 79, of Minoa and Wildwood, FL passed away Wednesday. He was born in Syracuse on December 15, 1937. He was a U.S. Marine and served during the Korean War.
Upon retiring from Chrysler 17 years ago he became a winter resident of Florida. Robert was a life member of the Syracuse Turners Club and an avid SU fan and golfer. He enjoyed his family and friends and was commonly known as the “grill master”.
He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Dorothy (Havens) Knapp; and his brother, Richard.
Survived by his loving wife of almost 58 years, Kay; seven children, Richard (Ronnie), Robert (Donna), James (Cheryl), Linda Knapp Sheldon, Sharon (Wayne) Barkauskas, Suzanne Knapp and Lori Venditte; brothers, Donald and David Knapp; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Joan Metzger and Phyllis Hoff; a brother-in law, Robert Greene and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 6:00 to 8:30 pm Tuesday at R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Rd., Minoa. The service will follow the calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Syracuse Turners Club, 619 N. Salina St., Syracuse, NY 13208.
