Obituary for Ruth S. Bradner

Ruth S. Bradner
Ruth S. Bradner passed away peacefully at the Nottingham on August 13, 2017. Ruth was born November 21, 1929, to parents Bertha L. Snyder and Martin A. Snyder on City Island (NY).

After earning a B.A. at Cedar Crest College, NJ, in 1951, she married her husband William T. Bradner and taught for a couple of years before starting her family.

Ruth was a devoted member of St. David’s Church in DeWitt, where she spent time managing the parish, creating handcrafted vestments, helping chair the Celebration of the Arts and enjoying an active social life with her parish friends. She was a thoughtful listener who never let a friendship fail.

She enjoyed downhill skiing, swing dancing with her husband Bill, and was an amateur photographer, who was always ready to capture memories of her beloved grandchildren, family, and friends.

Since Ruth was born on City Island, near NYC, and her father was a yacht engineer, she developed a lifelong connection to the ocean. She was an avid swimmer and loved to swim laps at Snooks Pond and out at Chappaquiddick Island.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Bill. She is survived by her twin sister, Dorothy Shilling of Pennsylvania; her children, Terry Bradner of Fayetteville, Tymm Schumaker (Rick) of Saratoga, and Russell Bradner of Boston; her grandchildren, Erin Schumaker, Aimee Goodwin (Mike), and Matthew Schumaker; and her loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Tuesday, August 15th at Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd., Manlius. Burial will be private.
