Obituary for Chris J. Meskos

Chris J.  Meskos
Chris J. Meskos, 43, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017.
Born in Syracuse on May 26, 1973, he was graduate of West Genesee High School and St. Bonaventure University, where he was a member of the men’s soccer team.
Chris was an avid snowboarder, loved to cook, especially Easter lamb on his motorized spit in the front yard, watching soccer, coaching his kids’ teams, and being around his family and friends whom he loved like family.
Chris was a member of St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church where he served as Parish Council President. He always looked forward to the Greek Festival every year, where he cooked, danced and loved watching his children carry on family traditions.
He was predeceased by his father, John and father in-law, Nick Papageorge.
Surviving are his wife Penny (Papageorge); and their children, Joanna, Michael, and Nicole; his mother, Frieda; brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Karen Meskos; sister, Sophia Meskos; grandmother in Greece, Sophia Votskos; mother-in-law, Garyfallia Papageorge; and brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Laura Papageorge, Strati and Candace Papageorge. Chris was the best uncle to Johnny, Niko, Bettina, Lia, Benjamin, Violet, and Theo. Chris is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whom he loved, both here and in Greece.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 14 from 4 to 7pm at the Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A funeral service will be Wednesday, March 15 at 11 am at St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Road, Syracuse. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made for the family to Penny Meskos.
