Condolence: Mr. Petty was one of the best teachers I ever had, and I know he was highly regarded by my older brothers and sister, as well. I wish I had taken his earth science class in Jr. High, but didn't live in the district at the time. He was a kind man, and he always encouraged his students to be the best students and people we could be. My sincere condolences to Bea and the family. FM Class of 70.

Condolence: Mr. Petty was a great teacher who woke me up to the beauty of nature with his field trips. His classes were fun and serious at the same time. I still remember the mystery plant he had me identify in Highland forest- it was a cutleaf toothwart. He was one of a kind, we will all miss him.

Condolence: Warren Petty was that once in a lifetime top notch educator. He always demonstrated empathy and compassion all the while absolutely lighting up a teenagers interest from his leaf project in the fall to the wonders of human biology. A library has burned down with his passing.

Condolence: Mr. Petty was not just an outstanding biology teacher but a wonderful man. As much as he loved his subject matter, he loved his students more. It was an honor to be taught by him. My sympathies to his wife and family.

Condolence: Dear Aunt Bea, Bea, Susie and families: our deepest condolences on your loss (and ours). Uncle Warren was and will always be one of the finest men I have ever known. Although our visits were not as often as I would have liked, each time you visited Milwaukee was a great time for me. Uncle Warren was my inspiration to do well in school and college and to have a great appreciation for education, nature and really everything in life. All our love, Lynn & Palmina

Condolence: I found this obituary quite by accident but I am glad to have the opportunity to express my condolences. I well remember Mr.Petty. His quiet, kind, friendly demeanor made him one of the most approachable and respected teachers at FM. And his love of NYS history sparked my own interest. Beatrice, it has been almost fifty years since we have seen each other. I have often thought of you and even after all of these years, I would like to send you my sincere sympathy at the loss of your remarkable father. What an accomplished life he lived. I often think back to our days at FM and memories of you always bring a smile to my face. I send you best wishes and if you should ever wish to contact me, please just use the email we are asked to provide as we post these messages. I know how hard it is to lose a parent. I lost my father when I was 12 and my mother has been gone for thirty years, but they are always with us. Your father will aways be with you, too. I hope you are well and would love to hear from you if you feel at al inclined. Allow me to add that the handsome photo of your father is just as I remember him from our FM days. I send you best wishes.

Condolence: My deepest condolences on your loss. I remember Mr. Petty and enjoyed my time with him in Earth Science. He taught the girls in his class that we could dissect frogs, and that gave us the confidence to do many other things we thought we couldn't do. Rest in peace sir.

Condolence: My life is forever changed by the imprint Warren and his family have left on my heart. From his warm welcoming smile, his stories, the gratitude he always showed for the simplest things along with many expressions of gratitude...this only scratches the surface of the greatness of this wonderful man. I was blessed beyond measure to have almost 2 years of being one of Warren's caregivers. My nickname affectionately was "General" which he throughly enjoyed by the way! "General, I will miss you greatly and carry you forever in my heart" Heaven received a true angel March 3rd.
