Obituary for Robert V. Anklin

Robert Vincent Anklin, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Syracuse, NY, Bob was a lifelong resident of Central New York.
Bob was a sales manager with Henderson Johnson Company, where he retired from after 53 years.
He attended Nottingham High School where he excelled at sports. As captain and quarterback, Bob led his team to the 1950 city and county football championships, receiving first team all city honors in both football and basketball.
After graduation, Bob served 3 years in the Air National Guard where he was stationed in Newfoundland. Upon his return, he continued his education, attending Syracuse University and LeMoyne College.
An avid golfer and boater, Bob spent many happy summers on the St. Lawrence River and at his home on Wellesley Island.
He is predeceased by his brother, Bernard Anklin and his mother, Rose Anklin.
Remembering him with love are his wife, Carol Anklin; children, Daniel (Ruth) Anklin, Christopher (Mary) Anklin, Hilary (Bob) Shipway; and grandchildren, Meaghan Anklin, Christopher Anklin, Haley Shipway and Sarah Shipway. He is also survived by Carol’s children, Sandra (Gary) King, Tracy (Ronald) Poushter, Laura (James Missale); her grandchildren, Andrew Poushter, Pamela Poushter, Taylor Missale; and great-grandson, Landon Poushter.
Bob’s quick subtle wit and his profound kindness that emanated from the twinkle in his eyes made him everyone’s friend. He relished his time with his family and friends and was so very proud of his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Due to renovations at Immaculate Conception Church, a funeral Mass will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, September 26 at St. Ann’s Church, 104 Academy St, Manlius. Friends may greet the family from 4:00-5:00 pm before the Mass in the church. Burial will be private.
Contributions in his memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs Street, Fayetteville, NY 13066.
